While on our family vacation in Connecticut I spotted this fine tree specimen at Old Mystic Seaport.
Franklinia alatamaha was discovered by John Bartram in Georgia in the late 1700's. Since then there has been no sightings of this plant in the wild and all existing plants originate from his collections. This beautiful tree is truly one of a kind.
